This quarter emphasizes Physics and in particular waves. Waves can be seen in the areas of sound, light, and in optical devices such as mirrors and lenses. You have been tasked with choosing a focus area and then highlighting the concepts and skills you would need to futher investigate this area.

Phase 1
Your first job will be create a link below with your name to a new page. On that page you will describe what you intend to do and investigate in this physics focus. Identify the concepts and skills that you will need in order to do this. All of your learning, research and resources should be detailed on your wiki.

Phase 2
Update your wiki page with your project results: graphs, links, photos, and concepts learned. Oral defenses and presentations will be made to demonstrate understanding of the research and/investigation. Based on your strength of understanding, completion of task, and ability to communicate your learning you will be awarded up to 80 points for this assignment. Deductions may be given for incomplete or non-working projects as well as misunderstandings of concepts or ideas. You must meet with me to show your work before the end of class on Friday, May 9.

Phase 3
You may work with up to 3 people on a controlled experiment to test or confirm an area of waves, sound, light or optics. Realize that the more people working on a single assignment or task, the higher the expectation of work. A final submitted lab report is required. This assignment is worth up to 80 points. There must be a quantitative aspect here. (calculations, graphs, etc) Points awarded based on strength of research question, quality of experimental design, analysis or data, and reporting of data.
